Description
Every nurse has a responsibility for protecting children, even nurses who do not work directly with children. However, nurses may be reluctant to deal with child maltreatment issues because they do not want to get things wrong or make a situation worse. The aim of this learning module is to assist nurses in their child protection role. It describes the different types of child maltreatment, the risk factors and potential consequences. The nurse’s role in recognising and responding to suspected child maltreatment is discussed.
