Description

Rabies is a fatal viral disease that causes acute inflammation of the brain in humans. Transmission is usually through a bite or scratch or contact with the saliva of an infected animal. However, it is a vaccine preventable disease. It is important that those travelling to rabies-endemic countries are aware of the risk of rabies transmission and the role of pre and post-exposure vaccination.
